Issues in Tasks

Both Annotators and Reviewers can add Issue threads to Tasks. Typically a thread is started by a Reviewer because of an issue on a Task, but Annotators can start threads too.
To start an Issue thread:
  1. Click the Issues button in the Label Editor. A dialog appears.
  2. Click the New issue button.
  3. Specify the location of the Issue. You have a few options depending on the data unit you are working on:
    • Entire file: The Issue applies to the entire file.
    • Pin on canvas: The Issue applies at a specific location of the data unit.
    • Pin on frame: The Issue applies on a specific frame in a video.
  4. Specify an Issue tag for the Issue thread if your Admin has created Issue tags in Encord.
When your Admin has created Issue tags, the Issues filter panel in the Label Editor includes two tag filter sections:
  • Including issue tags — selecting one or more tags shows only issues that carry those tags.
  • Excluding issue tags — selecting one or more tags hides issues that carry those tags.
Both filters compose: an issue must match the include filter AND not match the exclude filter to appear in the list. A tag selected in one section is automatically removed from the options in the other section, so the same tag cannot be both included and excluded at the same time. Clearing all filters resets both sections.
  1. Type the message you want to communicate in the Comment field.
  2. Click Create issue.
  3. Rinse and repeat until you are finished.

Resolve Issue Threads

Annotators, Reviewers, Annotator-Reviewers, Team Managers, and Project Admins can resolve an Issue thread. There is no mechanism that requires specific Project roles or users to resolve an Issue thread.
To verify if an issue has been resolved, filter the Issue threads. Specify Resolved or All to view Issue threads that are marked as resolved.
To resolve/close an Issue thread:
  1. Click the Issues button in the Label Editor. A dialog appears.
  2. Click the Resolve issue button.

Delete Issues

Only Project Admins or the person who started the Issue thread, can delete the thread.
Delete an Issue thread:
  1. Click the Issues button in the Label Editor. A dialog appears.
  2. Click the kebab icon, on the top right of an Issue thread.
  3. Click Delete thread.
